Alternanthera lilacina

A stem plant with crosswise implanted leaves, which are lanceolate. Under strong lighting, the leaves are nicely colored red to burgundy. Strong lighting, pure water and a rich nutrient substrate are requirements. In many cases, CO2 fertilization is necessary to get growth going.

This plant is a wonderful contrast to other plants. It is particularly attractive when combined with groups of fine-leaved plants. Propagation can be done by taking cuttings, which must be done very carefully, because of the fragility of the plant.

Family: Amaranthaceae
Lighting: High
Water hardness: Soft/Medium
