Australia has a number of species that have “sister” species in the East and West. The current has separated populations of fish which created separate similar species over time. Chelmonops truncatus is commonly called Eastern Talma. Its “sister” specie is Chelmonops curiosus or Western Talma. They can be told apart by the dorsal and anal fins. These are more elongated and pointier in Chelmonops curiosus.
