Labeo cyclorhynchus – Harlequin Sharkminnow

Labeo cyclorhynchus is a Labeo species from the Congo River. The species grows to a maximum size of 16 cm. There are major differences in spot patterns and markings within the species.

Labeo cyclorhynchus is one of the more than 20 Labeo species found in the Congo, from the Central African Republic to Gabon. The species is also known by the synonym Labeo
variegatus. This name already betrays the great variation in the variegated spot pattern within the species.

they are group animals, they form such a large territory within them that larger specimens in an aquarium can only be kept solitary. Labeo cyclorhynchus grows to 16 centimeters in length. Compared to other fish, they are quite peaceful, provided they do not have a similar body shape. Other bottom dwellers such as catfish are therefore best avoided.

Origin

Labeo cyclorhynchus originates from the jungle streams in Kongo.

Diet

In nature it mainly grazes aufwuchs. It is an omnivore, so sufficient variety must be provided. Vegetable food should not be missing from the menu.

Breeding

Breeding Labeo cyclorhynchus in the aquarium has not yet been successful.
