Plectorhinchus lineatus – Yellowbanded Sweetlips

Plectorhinchus lineatus was described by Linnaeus in 1758. They are part of the Haemulidae family or the Grunts. Their common name is Yellowbanded Sweetlips.

Description

It has black and white stripes along the entire length of the fish. The mouth, nose and forehead are colored yellow. The belly and pectoral fins are uniformly bright yellow. The dorsal, anal and caudal fin are also yellow but show a black border and broad black spots.

Plectorhinchus lineatus is not often kept in the home aquarium. They can reach a total length of about 72 centimeters. Due to its calm behavior and fairly peaceful nature, it is often kept in public, large aquariums.
