Pterois radiata – Radial Firefish
Pterois radiata was described in 1829 by Cuvier. Their common name is Radial Firefish or Clear Lionfish.
Description
As the name suggests, they show white vertical radial bands on top of their red/brown basecolour. The fin rays are thin and can be white or (red) brown. The physique is somewhat shorter and higher than that of Pterois volitans. Pterois radiata can reach a maximum total length of about 20 centimeters.
