This is a short video of the habitat and behavior of Fundulopanchax kribianus in its natural environment. This species inhabits very shallow areas adjacent to the main stream of the ...watercourse and appears to have a complex habitat requirement in the upper reaches of the Ndonga River, Cameroon.
The locations where this species occurs are hydraulically complex where they were found to be restricted to isolated secondary channels and pools which form an interconnected braided network when flooding occurs.
In addition to the focus species, Benitochromis nigrodorsalis, Aphyosemion ahli and several Epiplatys and Clarias species are found. The dense canopy cover makes underwater films difficult due to the low light conditions so please excuse the quality of some of the images.[+] Show More

The island of São Tomé has a very high precipitation (up to 6, 000 mm). The interior of São Tomé has peaks that reach ...up to approximately 2000 metres above sea level. The rivers draining the island radiate from this high elevation at steep gradients, transition between hydraulic units occur over short distances in this region.
The Rio Grande is the biggest river system on the island and is depicted in this video. The inland waters of São Tomé are inhabited by amphidromous and anadromous fish species.
Sicydium bustamantei (DD), Liza grandisquamis (DD) and Sicydium bustamantei were common in the swift flowing Rio Grande.
