Crabs

Crabs belong to the group of crustaceans that have ten legs. They belong to the Infraorder Brachyura, which literally means ‘short tail’. So they do have a tail, but it is folded under the belly shield. As a result, it is no longer visible.

There are about 8600 described species of crab.
