Chromobotia

The genus Chromobotia has only one species: Chromobotia macracanthus or the Clown Botia. This species was described by Pieter Bleeker in 1852 as Cobitis macracanthus. In 1989 the scientific name was changed to Botia macracanthus. In 2004 Maurice Kottelat divided this genus into seven different genera. The Clown Botia has been given its own genus name (Chromobotia).
