Abactochromis

The genus Abactochromis has only one species (monotypic): Abactochromis labrosus.

The name Abactochromis means “exiled fish”, a reference that this species has been banned from the genus Melanochromis. In addition, the name also refers to the itinerant behavior of the species… as if they were also banned by the other cichlids.

Origin

Abactochromis only occurs in Lake Malawi. They can be found in almost the entire lake.
