Aphyosemion

The genus Aphyosemion comprises about 100 officially described species. No doubt there will be many more as species continue to be discovered. They are part of the Nothobranchiidae family. The name Aphyosemion means “Little fish with pennant”.

All Aphyosemion species originate from Africa and are often very colorful. These killifish usually do not grow larger than about five centimeters.
