Betta
The genus Betta currently comprises about 73 species. They are mostly fish that remain relatively small. The length ranges from about 2.5 centimeters for Betta channoides to about 12.5 centimeters for Betta akarensis.
Within the Betta genus we can see two types of reproduction. Some species reproduce by building a foam nest. The eggs are hung in this foam nest to hatch. The second type of reproduction is the mouthbrooder. The male takes the eggs into his mouth after laying. It incubates the eggs and allows the young to develop in its mouth until they are able to fend for themselves.
