Nakantenga Island
Nakantenga Island
Nakantenga Island is the smallest of the three Maleri Islands. The island is located in the southwest of Lake Malawi. The island is located in the Lake Malawi National Park. Fishing is not allowed along the coast of the park. Fishing is only allowed 100 meters from the coast.
The island is not inhabited. It consists mainly of rocks with a number of trees on top. Underwater you will mainly find rocks with a layer of detritus on the bottom. Below the layer of detritus, the substrate is coarser than many people expect.

The substrate around the island consists mainly of gravel, or small pieces of rock. So it is not sand as is often thought.
