Nakantenga Island

Nakantenga Island is the smallest of the three Maleri Islands. The island is located in the southwest of Lake Malawi and is part of Lake Malawi National Park. Fishing is not allowed along the coast of the park. Fishing is only allowed 100 meters from the coast.

The island is not inhabited. It mainly consists of rocks topped with a number of trees. Under water are mainly rocks with a layer of detritus on the bottom. Below the layer of detritus, the substrate is coarser than many people expect.
