Sebastidae

The Sebastidae or Rockfishes, Rockcods and Thornyheads are a family of predominantly sea fishes with usually more than ten sturdy spines. They are common in the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific Ocean.

A well-known gender is Sebastes, including the Sebastes marinus, a very tasty sea fish that lives in Labrador’s northern Atlantic Ocean over Greenland to the Barents Sea Sea. Most species live in the north of the Pacific Ocean and they are almost all live bearing.
